Why does a local business need an SEO-friendly website?
Because being online and being findable are two different things. A website that is not structured correctly for search can exist for years without appearing in the results that matter. SEO structure built into the site from the start, clear service pages, proper metadata, fast load times, and mobile usability, gives Google what it needs to understand what the business does and where it operates. Without that, even a well-designed site has a limited search footprint.
What platforms does Boxer Media build on?
Sites are built hand-coded from scratch, on Wix, or on Squarespace, and the recommendation comes out of a conversation about who maintains the site and what it has to do. There are also existing client sites on Square (formerly Weebly) and Shopify. Boxer Media holds Legend Partner status with Wix, the highest tier in their four-level partner program, which means priority access to platform and technical support. Wix suits a business that wants to make its own day-to-day edits; a hand-coded build suits one where performance, design control, and a lean technical stack matter most.
How long does a website take to build?
Most projects run three to six weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on the size of the site and how quickly content and feedback come back from the client. Larger or more complex sites may take longer. The timeline is discussed at the start of every project so there are no surprises.
Can Boxer Media redesign an existing website?
Yes. Redesigns are a significant part of the work I do. The process is the same whether starting from scratch or rebuilding an existing site: review what is there, identify what is working and what is not, and build something that performs better.
Do I need ongoing SEO after launch?
The technical SEO structure built into the site at launch is a foundation, not a finish line. A static site can only show up for the searches it was already ranking for on day one. Ongoing content, fresh blog articles, social activity, and regular updates give search engines more reasons to surface the site over time. Most Boxer Media clients stay on for ongoing work after launch because that is where the compounding visibility gains come from.
Can you explain what responsive website design is?
Responsive website design is an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience across a wide range of devices, from desktop computers to mobile phones. A responsive design ensures that your website adjusts its layout, images, and content to fit the screen size and resolution of the device being used to view it. This adaptability improves usability, making it easier for visitors to navigate, read, and interact with your website regardless of the device.
What are the key components of a successful website?
The key components of a successful website include:
- User-friendly design: Easy navigation and a clean, appealing aesthetic that aligns with your brand.
- Quality content: Informative, engaging, and regularly updated content that provides value to your audience.
- Mobile responsiveness: A design that looks and functions well on mobile devices.
- Fast loading times: Optimized images and code to ensure your site loads quickly.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Strategies that improve your site’s visibility in search engine results.
- Clear calls to action (CTAs): Prompts that encourage visitors to take specific actions, such as contacting you or making a purchase.
- Security: Measures to protect your site and visitors’ information, including SSL certificates.
- Contact information: Easy-to-find contact details or forms that encourage visitor inquiries.
How often should I update my website's content?
Updating your website’s content should be a regular activity to keep your site relevant, engaging, and SEO-friendly. The frequency can depend on the type of business and content. For example, a blog might see weekly updates, while a corporate site might update its blog or news section monthly. Key pages like Home, About, and Services should be reviewed every 6 to 12 months to ensure the information is accurate and reflective of your current offerings and brand message.
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and why is it important?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. It involves optimizing your website’s content, structure, and on-page elements like titles, meta descriptions, and keywords. SEO is crucial because it makes your website more visible, meaning more traffic and opportunities to convert prospects into customers. It’s also a valuable tool for brand awareness, building relationships with prospects, and positioning yourself as an authoritative and trustworthy expert in your field.
How can I make my website more accessible to individuals with disabilities?
Making your website accessible to individuals with disabilities involves several key practices:
- Use Alt Text for Images: Provide alternative text for images so screen readers can describe them to visually impaired users.
- Ensure Keyboard Navigation: Ensure users can navigate your website using a keyboard alone, which is crucial for those who cannot use a mouse.
- Create Content with Accessible Fonts and Colors: Use legible fonts and sufficient contrast between text and background colors to aid those with visual impairments.
- Include Transcripts and Captions: Offer transcripts for audio content and captions for video, which help users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Use ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) Landmarks: Help screen readers understand and navigate page layouts and elements.
- Conduct Accessibility Audits: Tools like the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE) can help identify and fix accessibility issues on your website.
What are the benefits of having a custom website design versus using a template?
Custom website design offers several benefits over using templates:
- Unique Design: A custom design ensures your website stands out with a unique look that reflects your brand’s identity, setting you apart from competitors.
- Tailored Functionality: Custom websites can be built to include specific features and functionalities tailored to your business needs, unlike templates which may be limiting.
- Scalability: A custom website can grow with your business, allowing for easier updates and additions as your needs evolve.
- Optimized Performance: Custom sites can be optimized for speed and efficiency, providing a better user experience and potentially improving SEO rankings.
- Professional Support: Working with the person who built the site means expert advice and ongoing support from someone who knows every line of it.
Can you explain the difference between a domain name and web hosting?
- Domain Name: This is the address of your website that users type into the browser’s URL bar to visit your site (e.g., www.example.com). It’s a human-readable address that directs users to the IP address of your website.
- Web Hosting: This is a service that provides the technology and server space necessary for your website to be accessed on the Internet. It’s where your website’s files are stored and served to users when they access your domain name.
What is website maintenance, and why is it necessary?
Website maintenance refers to the tasks required to keep your website updated, secure, and functioning correctly. This includes updating content, ensuring links work, keeping the platform up to date, backing up data, and monitoring website performance and security. It’s necessary because:
- Security: Regular updates and maintenance help protect your site from vulnerabilities and cyber threats.
- User Experience: Maintaining your website ensures that it remains fast, functional, and easy to navigate, providing a good user experience.
- SEO Rankings: Search engines favor websites that are regularly updated with fresh content and have fast load times and no broken links.
- Data Protection: Regular backups ensure that, in the case of data loss or a security breach, your website can be restored.
What is the role of social media integration on my website?
Social media integration on your website plays a crucial role in extending your brand’s reach and engagement with your audience. It involves linking your social media profiles with your website and may include features like social share and follow buttons, embedding your social media posts directly on your website, or using social login options. This integration helps to:
- Increase your content’s visibility and shareability by making it easy for visitors to share your content on their social media profiles.
- Enhance user engagement by allowing visitors to interact with your social media content directly from your website.
- Boost your social media followers by providing direct links to your social profiles.
- Keep the two consistent so a prospect who looks you up after a referral finds the same business on your site and on your profiles.
What are the advantages of having a blog on my website?
Having a blog on your website offers multiple advantages:
- Boosts SEO: Regularly updated blog content can significantly improve your website’s SEO, helping to attract more organic search traffic.
- Establishes Authority: Publishing informative and expert content can help establish your brand as an authority in your industry.
- Increases Engagement: A blog can encourage more visitor interaction, through comments and shares, which can lead to stronger customer relationships.
- Supports Content Marketing: Your blog articles can be a cornerstone of your content marketing strategy, providing valuable content to share on social media and email newsletters.
- Enhances Customer Education: Blogs allow you to share detailed information about your products or services, helping to educate potential and current customers.
How can I track the performance of my website?
Tracking the performance of your website can be effectively done using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These tools allow you to monitor various metrics that reflect your website’s performance, including:
- Visitor behavior: Understand how users interact with your site, including the pages they visit, the duration of their visit, and the actions they take.
- Traffic sources: Identify where your visitors are coming from, whether it be from search engines, social media, direct visits, or referral sites.
- Conversion rates: Track how well your site achieves its goals, such as sales, sign-ups, or other desired actions by visitors.
- Keyword performance: See which keywords are driving traffic to your site, helping to inform your content and SEO strategy.
- Site speed and technical issues: Identify any technical problems or areas for improvement in your site’s performance.
What strategies can I use to increase traffic to my website?
Traffic comes from a few things working together, and for a local business they tend to matter in this order:
- Search structure: pages built around what people actually search for, with the markup and internal linking that let search engines index them properly.
- Your Google Business Profile: for most local businesses this drives more calls than the website alone, and it works best when the information on it matches the site exactly.
- Published writing: articles that answer real questions give the site more ground to rank on, and give you something worth sharing and linking to.
- Social presence: regular posts keep you in front of people between visits and send them back to the site.
Paid search adds targeted traffic right away while the organic work builds. I set up and manage Google Ads campaigns for clients who want it, with each ad leading to a page built to turn that visit into a call or an inquiry.

How long before SEO shows results?
Meaningful movement usually takes three to six months, and competitive terms take longer. Search rewards consistency over time rather than a single push. Anyone promising rankings in weeks is describing something they cannot control.
Can you guarantee a first-page ranking?
No, and neither can anyone else honestly. Search engines change constantly and competitors act independently. What I can commit to is the work: correct structure, pages written for real search intent, and steady publishing. That is what produces rankings, but the ranking itself is an outcome rather than a deliverable.
What does SEO actually involve month to month?
Page structure and metadata, service pages written the way customers search, internal linking, technical fixes, Google Business Profile alignment, and reviewing what is working in Search Console so the next month's work is aimed at the right things.
Is SEO included when you build a site?
Yes. SEO structure and AI visibility work are part of every build rather than an add-on quoted separately. Ongoing SEO after launch is carried in the monthly packages rather than in the build.
More about this: AI Visibility →
What is AI visibility?
People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Google's AI answers, Perplexity, and Copilot the questions they used to type into a search box. AI visibility is the work of making sure those tools describe your business correctly when they do: accurate structured data, clear factual content, and consistent information across the web. Some people call it GEO, for generative engine optimization.
Is this different from SEO?
It overlaps heavily and builds on the same foundation. The difference is what wins. Search rewards pages that rank; AI answers reward content a model can read, understand, and quote confidently. That means plain factual statements, structured markup, and information that agrees with itself everywhere it appears.
Does this actually bring in business?
It has for clients here. One review on this site describes a customer who found their business through ChatGPT. The volume is smaller than search today, and the direction of travel is clear enough that being described accurately is worth doing now.
What does the ongoing AI visibility work actually involve?
It rolls into the regular monthly SEO checks rather than being sold as its own line. In practice that means keeping the structured data current as the business changes, making sure new pages answer questions directly rather than burying the answer, keeping business details consistent wherever they appear, and periodically asking the assistants what they say about you and correcting the source when something is wrong. Most of the work overlaps with good SEO, which is exactly why it is not billed twice.
How would I know if it is working?
Ask the tools directly and see what they say about your business, then check again in a few months. It is a slower and less precise signal than search analytics, which is honest about where the measurement currently stands.

How much does Google Ads management cost?
Setup starts at $500 and ongoing management at $500 a month. Your ad spend is paid directly to Google, so every dollar of it goes to your ads. Landing pages are priced separately, starting at $500. Accounts spending more than $5,000 a month on ads are quoted individually. Full details are on the pricing page.
How much should I spend on ads each month?
That depends on your services, your area, and how competitive the searches are. We set a starting budget together in the first conversation, and I adjust it as the campaign shows which searches bring in real inquiries.
Do I need a new website to run Google Ads?
Usually not. I review the page each ad will point to first. If it explains the service clearly and makes it easy to call or inquire, the campaign uses it. If a dedicated landing page would serve the campaign better, I build it, and it fits right into the rest of your site.
How soon will I see results?
Ads start bringing traffic as soon as they go live. The first few weeks are spent refining: reviewing the actual searches, adding negative keywords, and tightening the ads. A clear picture of what is working usually takes a couple of months.
Who owns the Google Ads account?
You do. The account and its history belong to your business, and I manage it with access you grant.
Is there a long-term contract?
Management is billed monthly and can be changed or stopped with 30 days’ notice.
Does Google Ads replace SEO?
They work together. SEO and AI visibility are built into every site I build, and they keep paying off over time. Google Ads adds targeted traffic right away and shows which searches, services, and messages bring in clients, which also sharpens the organic work. More about SEO.
More about this: Blog writing →
How often should a business publish blog articles?
Consistency matters more than volume. One well-written, strategically planned article per month is more valuable than four rushed posts that do not answer a real question. Most Boxer Media clients start at one or two articles per month and adjust from there based on results and budget.
How long does each article need to be?
It depends on the topic and what the competition looks like for that search. Most service and FAQ articles run between 600 and 1,200 words. Longer educational content may run 1,500 words or more. Length is determined by what the topic requires, not by hitting an arbitrary word count.
Does blogging actually help with SEO?
Yes, when it is done correctly. A blog post written around a real search query, structured with proper headings and metadata, and published to a well-organized website can rank and generate traffic. The key word is strategically. Publishing content without a plan produces minimal results. Publishing content built around how your customers search produces compounding visibility gains over time.
Do I need to provide the topics or the research?
No. Boxer Media handles topic identification, research, and writing. You review the draft and approve it before it goes live. Your job is to confirm that the information is accurate and that the voice fits your business — not to brief a content team or manage a production calendar.
Is blog writing a standalone service or part of something larger?
It can be either. Some clients come to Boxer Media specifically for blog writing. Most find that blogging works best as part of a broader visibility strategy that includes a well-structured website and basic SEO. Articles written for a site without proper SEO foundations do not perform as well as articles published to a site that was built to support them.
More about this: Social Media →
Which platforms does Boxer Media manage?
Facebook and LinkedIn are standard, because for most local businesses and professional service firms that is where the value is. Instagram and X are added on request, usually when the business has visual content worth posting. The mix follows where your clients and prospects actually are.
How often will you post?
Between two and five posts a week depending on the package. Each post is adapted and published to the platforms agreed for your package rather than being counted once per platform, and the platform mix is settled at the start. Frequency is set by what will look credible to someone checking the profile and what the business can realistically sustain.
Do I need to provide content or ideas?
No. I handle topic planning, writing, and graphics. If something notable happens in your business — a new hire, a completed project, an award — sharing that information helps. But the baseline content calendar runs without requiring input from you every week.
Is social media worth it for a local service business?
For most local businesses, social media is not a primary lead generator. It is a credibility signal. When a prospect gets a referral, they look you up. An active, professional social presence reinforces the referral. A stale or empty one creates doubt. For that reason alone, consistent management is worth it for businesses that run on word-of-mouth.
Can social media be added to an existing web design or blogging package?
Yes. Most Boxer Media clients work across more than one service. Social media management works best when it is connected to the rest of your content — blog posts become social posts, service pages inform content themes, and everything points back to the website.
What type of content works best on social media for engaging users?
Content that entertains, informs, or adds value tends to engage users most effectively. This can include how-to guides, industry insights, behind-the-scenes looks, user-generated content, and interactive posts like polls and quizzes. Videos and visually appealing images often perform well across various platforms. Tailoring content to your target audience’s specific interests and needs will yield the best engagement.
More about this: Pricing →
Why publish prices at all?
Because the alternative wastes both our time. Starting figures let you decide whether this is the right range before either of us gets on a call.
What makes a project cost more than the starting price?
Page count first. The $500 figure is a single page with a working contact form; as soon as a site needs more than one page it moves to the website tier, and most run to at least four — home, about, services, and contact. From there the number is set by how much content I have to write, how many images the site needs, and how much custom work is involved. E-commerce, multilingual pages, and anything that has to integrate with a system you already run all sit at the higher end. The quote you receive is the number that counts.
Are the monthly packages a contract?
No lock-in and nothing long to sign. Packages are billed on the first of the month for that month, and you can change tiers or stop with 30 days’ notice. The notice period covers whatever is already written or scheduled, so nothing is left half-finished on either side.
Do I have to take a monthly package?
No. Plenty of clients have a site built and handle their own content afterward. The packages exist for businesses that would rather hand that part off.
When do I pay?
Website builds are half to start and half before the site goes live. Monthly packages are billed on the first of the month for that month. Nothing is invoiced in arrears, and there is no surprise at the end.
Who writes the content?
I do, working from what you tell me about the business. You are not being handed a blank document and asked to fill it in, and you are not being asked to brief a writer. You supply the facts and the context; the writing is my job. Every build and every package includes two rounds of revisions on what comes back.
What about images?
Stock or AI-generated images are included, chosen to fit the business. You are welcome to supply your own photography instead, and it is usually better when it exists. A landing page includes up to two images; a full site is scoped to what the pages actually need.
Do I own the site when it is finished?
A hand-coded site is yours outright once it is paid for — the code, the content, all of it. A site built on Wix or Squarespace lives on your own subscription with that platform, in your name, so you keep control of it without being dependent on me to make everyday changes.
What does website maintenance cover, and what does it cost?
From $40 a month, billed quarterly in January, April, July, and October. It covers keeping a live site working: updates, fixes, and the small changes a business needs after launch, from a new phone number to a new section. The figure depends on the size of the site, what it is built on, any add-ons running on it such as an embedded reviews or booking widget, how often updates are needed, and the kind of changes involved. You get the exact number for your site before anything starts, and maintenance is separate from the monthly content packages — plenty of clients take one without the other.
What about hosting?
Hand-coded sites run on Cloudflare Pages, which for a normal business site costs nothing. Wix and Squarespace include hosting in their own subscription, paid directly to them. Either way, hosting is not a line item I mark up.
More about this: Working Together →
Who actually replies to this?
Matthew Schuller. There is no inbox team, no account manager, and no ticket queue. The person who reads your message is the person who would do the work.
How quickly do you respond?
Within one business day, usually sooner. If something is urgent, call rather than email.
Do I need to know what I want before getting in touch?
No. Most first conversations start with a business owner describing what is frustrating them rather than specifying a solution. Working out what would actually help is part of the job.
What if my project is too small?
Landing pages start at $500 and single-page work is genuinely welcome. If what you need would be a waste of money, I will say so rather than sell you something.
Do you work with businesses outside Long Island?
Yes. Most clients are on Long Island, and current work includes clients in California and elsewhere. Everything can be handled by phone, email, and video.
More about this: Long Island →
Where on Long Island is Boxer Media based?
Seaford, on the South Shore of Nassau County. Work runs across both counties, from Hempstead and Oyster Bay through Babylon, Huntington, Islip, and Smithtown, out to Brookhaven and Riverhead, along with clients in New York City.
Do we have to meet in person?
Not unless you want to. Plenty of projects run entirely by phone, email, and video, and plenty of clients prefer sitting down at the start. Being nearby means an in-person meeting is straightforward to arrange rather than a production.
Does hiring someone on Long Island help my site rank locally?
Not by itself. What helps is your own business being clearly located and correctly structured: a verified Google Business Profile with an accurate service area, consistent name and contact details everywhere they appear, location stated in the site's structured data, and pages written the way local customers actually search. Being local mainly means those details get set up by someone who knows the difference between Nassau and Suffolk and does not have to ask which towns border which.
What is the difference between this page and the web design page?
This page covers working with a designer on Long Island: the area, what local visibility takes, and who the work suits. The web design page covers the service itself, including platforms, process, timelines, and what is included in a build.
How long does a Long Island website project take?
Three to six weeks from kickoff to launch for most sites, which is the same anywhere. The timeline is agreed at the start, and the thing that reliably stretches it is content and approvals coming back slowly.
Can you fix a site somebody else built?
Often, yes, and it is worth asking before assuming a rebuild. Sometimes the site is sound and the real problem is that nothing points at it: no Google profile, no content, no reason for anyone to arrive. You will get an honest answer about which situation you are in.
More about this: Law Firms →
Do you understand attorney advertising rules?
Well enough to write to them and to raise a question rather than guess. New York limits testimonials, comparative claims, and language around specialization, and required notices vary by firm and medium. Compliance stays the firm's call: anything I am unsure about comes back to you before it goes live rather than after.
How many pages does a law firm site need?
A page for each practice area you want to be found for, a bio page for each attorney, plus home, about, and contact. A solo practice with three matter types typically lands around eight pages. Firms sometimes want fewer pages than that, and the trade is search visibility for the matter types left off.
Can you write the practice area pages for me?
Yes, and that is how most builds run. What I need from you is a conversation about what you actually handle and how you talk about it, since inventing that would produce pages that read as generic. From there the writing is mine, and you approve it before anything is published.
Can you show case results on a firm website?
Where the rules and your judgment allow it, yes, and it is persuasive when handled carefully. New York's rules govern how results can be described and what accompanying language is required. The site is built so results are straightforward to add or remove as your position on them changes.
How long before a new firm site brings in consultations?
Legal search is among the most competitive local categories, so expect movement over quarters rather than weeks. A well-structured site usually shows improvement in the first few months on the specific matter types it targets, with broader gains through the first year. Anyone promising faster than that is selling something.
More about this: Accounting and Tax →
When is the best time to build an accounting website?
May through November. Nobody is under deadline pressure, content questions get proper answers, and the site has months to establish itself before January traffic arrives. A build started in February competes with your busiest weeks and reaches search engines too late to help that season.
Do you build client portals for document uploads?
The site can present and link whatever secure system you already use, or one chosen during the build, and explain clearly to visitors how their documents reach you. Building a document system from scratch is a different project with its own security and compliance questions, and I will say so rather than take it on lightly.
Should my site target individual returns or business clients?
Both, on separate pages. They are looking for different reassurances and searching in different months: individuals cluster around the filing deadline, while business owners looking for bookkeeping, payroll, or advisory work search year round. One page trying to speak to both usually convinces neither.
What should an accounting site publish between seasons?
Deadlines and extensions, what changed this year, recordkeeping questions clients ask on the phone, and the difference between the services you offer. It is useful to the reader, straightforward to write, and it is the content that accumulates search visibility during the months when your competitors have gone quiet.
Do you work with bookkeepers as well as CPAs?
Yes. CPAs, enrolled agents, tax preparers, and bookkeeping practices all fit the same build, with the emphasis shifting toward whichever work you want more of.
My site is only busy for three months. Is it worth investing in?
That pattern is usually a symptom rather than a fact of the field. A site that says nothing between April and January gives search engines no reason to surface it for the year-round work, which is where the higher-value business clients are. The seasonality is real; being invisible for nine months of it is a choice.
