Accessibility Statement
Last updated September 6, 2026
This site is built and tested to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That standard is the one most commonly referenced in US law and procurement, and it covers the things that decide whether a site is usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or a browser tuned for reduced motion.
What that means in practice
The measures below are built into every page:
- Keyboard operation throughout. Every link, button, form field, menu, and accordion works from the keyboard alone, in an order that follows the page. A skip link at the top jumps past the navigation, and pressing Escape closes the menu and the dropdown panels and returns you to the control that opened them.
- Visible focus. Whatever holds focus is outlined clearly, with the outline color chosen per section so it stays legible on the dark bands as well as the light ones.
- Contrast that clears the standard. Every text and background pairing on the site was measured. The lowest sits at 5.1:1 against a 4.5:1 requirement, and most run far higher. Form field borders and other meaningful non-text elements clear the separate 3:1 requirement.
- Layout that holds up when magnified. Pages reflow to a single readable column at 400% zoom with no horizontal scrolling, and they survive increased line, paragraph, letter, and word spacing.
- Respect for reduced motion. A browser or operating system set to reduce motion turns off the animations, and the scrolling panels become plain rails you can swipe or scroll yourself.
- A pause control on anything that moves. The work and review rails carry a pause button, so stopping them takes one press whatever you are using.
- Forms that explain themselves. Every field has a visible label. When something is missing, the message appears next to that field, is announced by a screen reader, and moves your focus to the field that needs attention. If the server turns a message away instead, the reason is read out from the status line beneath the form.
- Meaningful text alternatives. Images carrying information have descriptions; decorative images are marked so screen readers pass over them rather than reading filenames aloud.
- Structure a screen reader can navigate. Headings run in order, landmarks are labeled, lists are real lists, and the page language is declared.
How it was tested
Testing combined automated and manual checks:
- Automated evaluation with axe-core against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 A and AA rulesets, across every page and across the site's interactive states — menus open, panels expanded, forms showing errors.
- Contrast measured directly from the color values rather than estimated by eye.
- Manual keyboard walkthroughs, browser zoom to 400%, and text-spacing overrides.
Third-party components
Two components on this site are supplied by other companies, and their internal behavior is controlled by those companies rather than by me. They sit outside the conformance claim above:
- The Google reviews display on the reviews page, provided by Elfsight. A plain text version of the same reviews appears directly beneath it, so the content is available whether or not the widget loads.
- Cloudflare Turnstile, the anti-spam check on the contact form. If it gives you any difficulty, the phone number and email address below reach me directly.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is checked again whenever pages are added or changed, and the site is reviewed against the guidelines as they develop. Assistive technology, browsers, and this site all keep moving, so problems can appear in combinations that testing has yet to reach.
Tell me about a problem
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, I want to hear about it, and I will fix what I can. Contact details are at the bottom of this page. Please describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, and expect a reply within one business day.
