I spent more than three decades working at the intersection of marketing strategy and technical infrastructure before founding Boxer Media in 2017.
Background
Two careers that turned out to be one.
Early in my career, I worked in national advertising, contributing to campaigns for major brands including Blockbuster Video, Denny's Restaurants, and Burger King. That work laid the foundation for how large organizations think about reach, consistency, and audience — disciplines that translate directly into how small and mid-sized businesses should think about their online presence today.
In parallel, I built deep expertise in enterprise IT. I designed and implemented a global disaster recovery platform for a major advertising agency, earned the Certified Business Continuity Professional designation, and hold advanced network engineering credentials, including Novell Certified Engineer.
That combination — marketing strategist and systems builder — is uncommon in the web design space. Most firms are one or the other. I work as both, which means every website is built to look professional and to keep working as a long-term visibility asset.
Platforms
The platform follows the business.
The right answer depends on who is going to maintain the site, how often it changes, and what it has to do. That comes out of a conversation, and I work in all three, so the answer can be an honest one.
Bespoke, custom built
Hand-coded from scratch. No page builder, no plugin sprawl, no template to outgrow. These sites load fast, have exactly the structure their content needs, and can be shaped around anything a business actually does. This can be the right answer when exceptionally tight performance control matters, when the site has to do something unusual, or when a business wants to own its code outright rather than rent a platform.
Wix
Boxer Media holds Legend Partner status with Wix, the highest tier in their four-level partner program. In practice that means priority access to platform resources and technical support, so clients operate on a better-supported foundation than they would with a general web designer. Wix is the right answer for a business that wants to make its own day-to-day edits without calling anyone.
Squarespace
I build and maintain Squarespace sites as well, for businesses already there or drawn to how it handles editing and commerce. Moving a site between platforms is often the wrong instinct — if what you have works and the problem is really content or visibility, that is a cheaper fix than a rebuild, and I will say so before quoting one.
SEO and AI visibility are included in every site, not sold as an add-on. Whichever platform a site lives on, the structure, markup, and content work are part of the build.
The name
There was a dog.
Boxer Media is a tribute to Marvin, my late deaf white Boxer and, as far as I am concerned, the greatest dog in the world.
The spirit of the company lives on with Maddi, a deaf Boxer-Pitt mix who now serves as our household's resident source of energy and enthusiasm.
I live on Long Island with my wife Christine, a freelance Sign Language Interpreter, and our son William.
The approach
